| Thursday 29th June 2006 Arrivals & Check-in. Registration open in confirmed locations from 12 noon onwards! Accommodation will be available thanks to Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort, who are located in the middle of Aviemore, consisting of four huge hotels. There are also extensive Bed and Breakfast services available throughout the main street and surrounding area. A campsite for the exclusive use of Tartan Army members is also being arranged at the High Range complex/ camping site a couple of miles from the village.
Various entertainments are available in the pubs around the village of Aviemore. A fine warm-up for the coming weekends festivities! Friday 30th June 2006
Get Steaming! Travel back in time to the bygone years on a 1950’s steam locomotive from Aviemore to Broomhill (the station that was named Glenbogle) in the ever popular Monarch of the Glen programme, where we are hosting a real Highland Ceilidh on the station platform. Local Scottish musicians will be performing. A traditional bowl of Stovies will be served and a Fully licensed bar will be in operation on the journey to and from the station and at the Ceilidh itself. This is a trip not to be missed! Tickets are limited (150). Reserve your tickets at £5 per person by calling Cairngorm Hotel on 01479 810233. The event runs from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Wrist-band holders only! Saturday 1st July 2006 From 10.30am the Scotland Supporters Club Fair Play "7 a side" football tournament will take place on the Aviemore pitches. The tournament has progressed and enlarged on an annual basis. Saturday night will involve a host of venues providing entertainment for the Tartan Army including local clubs with singers. Footsoldiers will be able to move freely between venues with the aid of wristbands and all will be family friendly events with partners and children welcome. All the entertainment venues are fully licensed and provide high standards of service. Sunday 2nd July 2006 At 12pm the Clan March will take place, starting from the Cairngorm Hotel car park and ending at the football park through the village. Led by a pipe band, the march will be accompanied by clubs and foot soldiers following and displaying their respective banners, flags or colours. Sunday 1pm sees our Carnival Highland Games event take place, including fun & field events as well as Caber-tossing and fun activities for all the family. Clubs are encouraged to set out their own stalls and sideshows and also enter a team into the tug-of-war. A beer tent, craft stalls and pipe band will be present, and will end with our awards ceremony taking place at 5.30pm. The weekend's events culminate in a "Last Night Ceilidh" in the Osprey Arena at the Resort. The Tartan Army Gathering is a non-profit making organisation. Any surplus funds will be used for future events (e.g the 2007 event). |
